Deacon Luis Zuniga is Director of the San Juan Diego Ministry Institute for Lay Ministry Formation at the Diocese of Brownsville. He also coordinates the Office of Pastoral Planning and the Office of Evangelization as well as Hispanic Ministry/Encuentro. He has worked for the Catholic Church full time since 1985 in different parishes and since 1999 at the Catholic Diocese of Brownsville . He started as a Youth Minister and Director of Religious Education and served three different parishes in the Rio Grande Valley: St. Joseph the Worker in McAllen as well as Good Shepherd and St. Mary, Mother of the Church in Brownsville where he is currently assigned as a deacon. Deacon Luis also served as National Consultant for Hispanic Ministry for Silver Burdett Ginn Catholic Publishing for ten years and his background is in Religious Studies (Incarnate Word College) and Diaconal Studies (St Thomas School of Theology). He also writes a monthly column for The Valley Catholic (diocesan newspaper) on various topics pertaining to the Catholic faith, Evangelization and the laity.
